Wayne's World Swede Evaluation

In this evaluation i will be explaining what i did and why, i will be talking about the swede i made which was imitate of Wayne's World, we had a brief which told us to recreate a Wayne's World without a budget, below i will be telling you my strengths, weaknesses and how i could have improved my Swede.

Strengths

camera

In the video i believed that we use a lot of camera techniques, which helped us denote situation for example in the video we see Garth at 1:41 go under the table because he was scared as Wayne got fired, we use a mid shot and then pan's towards downwards as Garth fell down which connotes that his scared.

Another strength for the camera was that the camera quality was clear and we understood what was going to happen, for example in the video at 0.02 we see Wayne and Garth singing intro song which was had very clear quality footage.

mise en scene

mise en scene helped us create the scene, we thought that costume was the most important factor because it was the appearance that actually added the humor, for example at 1.24 we see a male character play a female role by putting a wig on and he also had stuffed foil on his chest to make look like boobs and i believe it added a lot of humor to the video.

Another important mise en scene factor was the props, because we used a lot of props and i think the props created humor for example at 1.20 we see Wayne gets a headache then Garth gives skittles i
nstead of paracetamol, this makes the audience laugh as skittles are sweets.

Sound

The sound is a important factor because without the sound being clear audience would not understand for example at 0.03 we hear Wayne and Garth sing the intro the sound was sung by Frias and Ben who were the main character. the sound is very clear you can hear them singing 'Wayne's world Wayne's world'.

Another strength for the sound from the swede was the car scene at 21 seconds we see Wayne,Garth and the camera group singing 'bohemian rhapsody' , this is a strength as it is a reference to the film and the audio was very clear.

Improve weaknesses

camera

We had a lot of camera issue for example we could found out during post production that some of the footage was cut off to early, this meant that the video would be jumpy as the scenes always stop after they action straight for example 1.16 we see the scenes cut and go to another scene very quick, we would improve this by making sure next time to record scene's for longer.

Another weakness was that we the camera quality overall is not that clear this may be because we use a camera which the quality wasn't great, for example at 1.23 the camera quality was not that clear, if we did this again we would try to use another camera.

mise en scene

I thought one of our weakness was the lighting as the lighting at was not that great because at this scene we see Garth attack the big guy i thought if we use more light it more clear, however the room did not have that much light,in the future i would be doing in a room which has more lighting. lighting make a huge difference.

Another weakness was the locations we used, we basically just used one room as time was against us and we had a deadline which we had to meet. using one room meant all the scene's where located in the class room, for example in the video at 56 seconds we see computers all around but in the actual scene it was meant to be in a restaurant, i would improve this by maybe next time shooting it in a room which suits the location, however it was meant to be a imitation so overall we were successful.

Sound

One of the weakness for the sound was that at the beginning of the Swede we have the intro paper we hear the movement sound which was meant to be removed as we don't want t here the movements, in the future i will be listening to the audio very carefully.

Another weakness was that some audio was cut out, which meant that at 57 seconds of the video when Benjamin tells them that his going to tear the cheque up they say 'no' but then it cut out so they do not finish the sentence, in the future i will we will be looking closely to the audio so that these mistakes do not occur again.

Pre-production skills

Pre-production i what we planned before actually recording footage for example this was the shooting script, location list, cast list, crew list and recording schedule.

Shooting script helped us a lot as we did not have to think when we were actually recording the footage as we already know what we were going to be doing, this made the process a lot quicker and i believe this is a important factor.

Recording schedule was the most important factor for our group as we know all the times that we would be able to record the swede and we know where as well because we were able to ask the teachers if the room was available the day we were going to record.

Logistical/production management skills

I think the management of our group was very successful because  everyone was on time and we always communicated with each other by text as we had each others numbers, which helped us keep in contact if there was any problems we would have rescheduled and then let all the group members know.

When we went and recorded the footage our group was well organised as everyone know what to do , and we also made sure all the group members were doing something as we had to meet deadline and we were successful as well because all the members had responsibilities for example some where in charge of keeping equipment's and some had to get props or keep the memory card safe, by giving everyone responsibilities lead to our group being successful.

mise en scene skills

Using one of the mise en scene factors which is costume it made it more realistic for example made the actors where wigs which made a good imitation of the actual characters from the film, so i believe that costume is a big factor.

Another important factor from the mise en scene was props as it denotes the situation for example at 54 seconds of the video we see Wayne and Garth in the restaurant, then we see food on table this denotes that its in the restaurant. mise en scene made the scene more clear.

Overall the swede of Wayne's World was successful as it does imitate the film as we have put the main scene's together, the swede contains the most important parts and has lot of humor. i also believe that we have carefully selected the most appropriate characters.

Planning edit work shop and Evaluation (single)

Introduction to edit work shop

In this blog i will describe all the planning work and describe step by step what I did and I also show my shot list and storyboard so it gives better understanding. We were asked to create an video which had specific camera techniques.

Shooting list

The shot list shows all the camera shots and helps us know what to do on the day and we also plan which bits we are going to have music and we write the script if there is dialogue in the video.

storyboard

These are storyboards which we done so gives us an rough idea what to do in the production stage and it also helps us remember what shots to record. There are to techniques we had to use, that was match on action and shot reverse shot. we used match on action for example in the storyboard we see the police drop the files but then we have another shot of it falling on the desk, we also used shot reverse shot when the police officer and criminal where talking together.

We used various camera shots, we used an establishing shot because we wanted to show the scenery and setting this helps the audience understand where the video is taking place. Another shot we used was a long shot of the police officer as we wanted to show the person coming in and long shot helps us show the action, we also used mid show to show the upper body and we wanted to show the action  as the police officer drops the file. Another camera shot we used is close up to show something in detail for example we used a close up to show the file dropping. We used over the shoulder shot to show what the reaction of the actor.

Mise en scene was a big part as we had to dress the actors right so it made sense for example in the video you would see the criminal we made the actor wear a hoodie to connote that his the criminal and we also done the establishing shot of the police station to make the audience know where its taking place. We used both artificial and natural lighting because we thought it may make it more realistic, we also turned a school office into a interview room as we thought that it was more realistic because there was a desk. we also used one prop which was the knife as we wanted to add humor to the video because usually in a police station the criminal does not carry any weapons.

Music

The music i have chosen to use is from a program called The Bill , The Bill is a police program so the theme song would be relevant to my video as the video i have done is about police interrogation.

Production logo, Titles and Credits

This is our production logo we have chosen we called it ABI studio, ABI is the first letter of our names for example A stands for Asad, B  stands for Bleu and I stands for Ismail. Asad and Bleu are the people who i worked with for this project and we all decided on this production logo we specifically liked the color scheme we used and we thought we would be unique as we made an image of a boy sitting on a bird.

Titles

This is the title of our video we have chosen this theme color because that matches our logo and credits, we wanted dark colors because we wanted to keep it original and we liked the color scheme as a group and we also wanted it to match the logo and credits.

This is the credits, we choose this as in most video's this design is used and we wanted it to be traditional and we liked the color scheme and in the credits we have listed who done what and who it was created by.

Evaluation
This is an evaluation on what we did for the edit workshop we were asked to create a video which had which didn’t break the 180 degree rule and had to have specific camera technique for example we had to have match on action and a shot reverse shot we also had to use the rule of thirds.

In the first version of the film of the video we broke the 180 degree rule twice, as we were editing we decided to re-record specific scene’s as we wanted the video to be perfect. We used the rule of thirds successfully as we tried are best to do so. In the video we have used match of action as we see the police officer drop the files then we have another shot of it falling on the table.

During the production we had struggles when to record because we all had different lessons which meant we had to record during media or after school, however we able to keep on track as we finished the pre- production work early which meant we had more time and during production we lacked space in the room so meant that the camera man didn’t have enough space to get the best footage, so I would defiantly think about the location space.

During the post- production we faced many challenges for example we found out that some shots were not long enough and some shot won't cleared to well, I also had problems with the sound as every time I edited the video clip the sound would go which meant me losing all the sound this meant that I had to start again because there was sound on the original video’s. If I did edit again I would make sure that during production we film longer as I learned that you can never record enough.

Overall the strengths were we good with time and we worked will in a team and we were able to see the faults and solve them, in our team we all gave opinion and we always respected each other thoughts. I think i would like working in this group as i think we worked fast and quick.

Overall as a team we have many weaknesses for example we need to make sure next time that we record in a place where there is more than enough space and I recommend that you see your work in after you done it because we made a mistake not seeing are footage before editing, we could have saved a lot of time.

Overall I think making the video long adds more meaning to the video, I would also record in a room which is not as crowded and there needs to be space for the camera man to record specific shot. Overall as team we worked well and we had good communication skills,

An Analysis Of Wayne's World

                       Wayne's World

In this blog I will be analyzing Wayne's World in detail, Wayne's World is about a broadcast show which is called Wayne's world, the show is filmed in a basement one day they are offered a deal for the show would Wayne risk his business.Wayne's world is a aimed at range of audiences.

I would say Wayne's world target age is 15-35 because it appeals to people that age as they can relate more to the film because the characters are around the late twenties and in the we see adult content for example when Wayne sexually interacts with Cassandra, this is why I have aimed it at an higher age because I believe that parents would not want them seeing that.

I would say the main gender for Wayne's world is aimed at is both because I think in the film there are many things both gender can appeal to for example many females may relate to Cassandra and many males would relate to Wayne or Garth.

I would say that there are many things the audience would be interested in, however I think that there are two main ones for example they would be interested in seeing Vlogs because in the film we see Garth and Wayne talk to the audience in specific moments for example at 4min of the film we see Wayne talking to the audience. Another interest would be that the like music because in the film we see Wayne, Garth and the camera crew singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the car.

I think Wayne's world is aimed at people in England because in the film we see the Wayne, Garth and the camera crew singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the car, this denotes that the film is aimed at people in England because "Bohemian Rhapsody" is song by the queens who were known in England. They also speak English in the film, however this doesn't tell us that it's aimed at England as other countries can speak English for example America.

In the film we see range of ethnicity however I believe that its mostly whites because there most characters in the film are white and I think its targeted at white people due to not having range of ethnicity for example the main characters Wayne and Garth are white, the only person who isn't white is Cassandra.

The film lacked in camera quality due to the low budget of twenty million compared to other films they had a low budget which meant they had use low quality equipment, however this film was known worldwide so meant that they made a heavy profit, overall in box office it says the made just over a billion pound, this suggest that the film was very popular as worldwide it made 70 million pounds.

Throughout the film we see fuzziness because in 1992 the technology wasn't as advanced as these days and the low budget meant they couldn't get expensive equipment, however i think that the film quality was okay for the 90's as it was very expensive to buy camera's as they were very rear.

In the film we see an actor called Rob Lowe represent Benjamin, In the film Benjamin is the antagonist because he wants to steal Wayne's girlfriend Cassandra and he also wants Wayne's show this denotes that his antagonist as they want to create a problem and they want to steal. We also have a protagonist in the film as we see Wayne starts to fix things at the end which connotes that Wayne is a protagonist because the protagonist is the one that solves the problem.

Wayne is a meant to be a character good and funny character as he is one of the main character for example at the end of the film we see Wayne always does the right thing this connotes that he is a good guy and he adds a lot of excitement in the film when he writes rude comments on posits in the film at 1:04:00 this makes the audience laugh connotes that its funny.

Garth is an unusual character, he seems different to other but is really funny and his stupidity stands out for example at 0:20:00 we see Garth playing with the machine then scratching the car this makes the audience laugh at what he has done and then tries to escape quickly this connotes that Garth is a funny character and the director has done this to make the film more funny as it is comedy film.

Benjamin is a character who creates a problem and turns out to be the evil person in the film he is the antagonist as he doesn't want Wayne to succeed for example in the film at 01:05:00 we see Benjamin sack Wayne and then takes over the show so connotes that is the evil person.

In this film there are many different themes as we see romance in the film to when Wayne see's Cassandra he falls in love with her, we see this happen at 0:21:00 when the song Dreamweaver plays and then the stars all around Cassandra denoting that Wayne has fallen in love with her.

Stock characters are basically the popular roles in the film, for example in most films there is a protagonist and antagonist and i'm very sure that most films made always have protagonist and antagonist for example in Wayne's world we Wayne is the protagonist because he tries his best to fix the problems and Benjamin is antagonist as he wants to ruin the peace.

Setting is the place is where the film is set, in Wayne's world there are various location for example in the film we see the basement were Wayne's world takes place, then we see the club were Wayne and the friends go to have party and also where he meets Cassandra, We also see Wayne's house and the studio where Benjamin sets the new Wayne's World show, The setting is important because the setting denotes the situation for example when they go to club we know they going to party because that is what a club connotes.

mise en scene is costume, lighting and location, These are key concepts because in most of the film mise en scene helps create the moment for example many films use different props for example in Wayne's World at  00:20:00 we see Wayne's friend Garth play with the machine this is a prop and adds more meaning as he accidentally scratches someones car, this makes the audience laugh, this relates back to the genre of the film which is comedy so its meant to make people laugh.

Equilibrium is when the protagonist has an ordinary life and no problems for example at 00.04:00 we see Wayne's having a normal life and doing his show without any problems and we don't see the antagonist yet.

Disruption is when the antagonist creates a problem for the protagonist, for example in Wayne's world we see Benjamin wants Wayne and Garth to sign contract for 5000 dollars each, however Wayne and Garth don't read the contract, this creates a problem for Wayne has he may have cost his show.

Recognition is when the protagonist realizes that there is a problem for example in Wayne's world at 01:04:00 when he gets fired for humiliating the sponsor, then Wayne says his going take his show back, but then Benjamin says that Wayne doesn't own the show this is when Wayne realizes the problem and he also finds out that Benjamin is trying to steal his girlfriend.

Repair is when the protagonist solves the problem, for example in Wayne's World when Wayne asks Cassandra to come with him and he will help her get a record with MR Big and then Cassandra goes with him and Wayne plans to broadcast a show on Mr Big limo TV so that he comes to the basement to hear Cassandra singing and gives her a record deal.

New Equilibrium is when everything's back to normal, for example at the end of film we see Wayne and Cassandra live a happy life and the antagonist Benjamin cannot affect them any more.

Overall Wayne's World is good film and is a film filled with humor and for the time it was recorded the film quality was okay and i believe that this film was set out perfect and the story line was very interesting and i believe that it catches intention.

A review of Wayne's world

Wayne's world is a comedy film directed by Penelope Spheeris, the film is about two guys who produce live program called Wayne's world, Wayne and his friend Garth are the presenters of the show they are a sensation and one day are offered five thousand dollars each to promote a arcade company. Wayne is asked to sign the contract but has he read it closely.Below is the trailer

In this film there are two main characters, Mike Myers who stars as Wayne Campbell and Dana Carvey who stars as Garth Algar, these two characters are important because the are the ones who add humor to the film throughout. The both actors costume matched the personality and also add a lot of humor because they dressed very unusual.

In this film it contains a lot of comedy scenes for example when Garth was in the garage he was playing with the machine and accidentally he scratched the car, This made the audience laugh as after he says "we should go now" this shows us that the director uses these lines to add humor in the film.

The film is a fast paced film as it straight goes onto the main story which is about the show, however the director does some time try to build suspense because he makes the audience ask question as at the end the director has several ending to add suspense. It was very different film compared to the films i watch as i like more action, however Wayne's World kept me entertained as you didn't  know whats going to happen and i also liked how the characters were very different and had an unusual personality, to be honest the two main characters kept me entertained because they just added humor and made me laugh throughout the film as they done many stupid things.

The director dresses the character in a unusual way to make the audience laugh because if the character dress in a weird way the audience will laugh at them and also will connote that they aren't that clever or smart as we see in the film Wayne and Garth sign a contract without reading it, which leads them having no show. This will tell the audience that the characters won't that smart. The dialog between the characters are very simple which again tells us that they aren't that smart.

In my opinion I believe that this film has some weaknesses like the quality this may be because of time when it was recorded as technology want as advance and there are many scenes which are not clear enough. In the film there aren't many different sets as most of it is shot in the basement and car, the director could have set it in different places to make it more interesting and it would make the audience more entertained as audience like adventures.

overall I believe that this film has strengths and weaknesses, the director has made  film which entertains the audience and I think that he has added humor throughout the story line as there are various scenes where the is slapstick humor and that also makes the audience laugh, I guess the director overall done a good job however he could have improved the order of the film as it was a bit confusing. I would recommend this film to people who are looking for a film which has comedy in it, and people who want to be entertained throughout rather than watching half the movie and getting bored.

Mise en Scene

Mise en scene

In this task we had to take a still image and show specific genres of films for example gangster, thriller, family and action below are pictures from these genre's. We worked in groups of 2-3 and we had one lesson to do this task which meant the schedule was tight.

Gangster genre

Action genre

Thriller genre

Family genre

Analyse's on the best and worst image.

Best image

This image is the best because i think that it denotes the theme of the film which is gangster and this denotes the gangster theme by the costume the two people are wearing as you can see they look like there there selling drugs and the location is also connotes that there in a a place were gangsters stay and the scenery looks rough so makes the image better.

Worst image

i think this image is the worst as you can see one of the actor is smiling this makes the image look bad and we can see that its in the same location as the gangster theme one, however we did not have enough time to go to other places and the natural lighting makes the image more realistic, however if re done this image i would firstly make sure that the actor is not smiling and also i would try my best next time to shoot in a different place to make the picture better.

Overall this task was very sucessful and i loved working in a team and i also learned from my mistake and i also gained more experience and also keep track of time.

MY MEDIA SUMMER

THIS BLOG IS ALL ABOUT                                                 MY MEDIA

FILMS

In the summer i have enjoyed doing many activities and also socializing with my friends and family. In the summer i have watched range of films in various locations and i was very fascinated by one of the films that i had watched called 'Get hard'  below is the trailer.

Get hard is a comedy film, Will Ferrel and Kevin Hart star in the film, the film is about a rich person who needs help to get stronger physically because he has been sentenced to prison for something he has been framed for, he hires Kevin Hart who is a car wash owner and who is in need of money. There is also a lot of humor in the film as kevin Hart is a comedian and it makes me smile and forget everything i'm worried about for example i was really worried about my GCSE result.

Another film i watched was 'Avengers age of ultron' below is the trailer.

'Avengers age of ultron' is one of the best sci-Fi film by far i usually don't enjoy these films but this film was different because it was very realistic and the adventure was fun as you never know where the story was going. This film uses many camera features and i like how they camera man lowers the camera to denote the baddies, by lowering the camera it would make the person look bigger shows hierarchy.

                            SONGS

i love listening to music because it helps me be less stress and forget what i'm worried about, i like range of  music genres because it keeps me entertained. There are many music artists i like, one of my favorite artists is Marshall Bruce Mathers, better known by his stage name Eminem. n
Below is one of his music video called 'mockingbird'.

This is one of my favorite songs because i like how the song writer expresses his feelings and the video also connotes what the rapper is saying. They use various camera techniques and i like how they have used real footage. Whenever i hear this song i feel very calm i believe that's because of what the song writer says. My other favorite song artist is Tupac Amaru Shakur, also known by his stage names 2pac, below is one of his music video called 'changes'.

This is another favorite song of mine, i love this song because it motivates me to change and do the best i can, it also motivate me to do more in my life. Some people may not like this but to be honest i like old school music because they always wrote something that they had experienced and theirs always a meaning behind the song.

                      TV PROGRAMMES

Family guy is one of my favorite TV programme because there is a lot of humor in the animated cartoon and i love how every episode brings a different adventure, i like programmes that explore different aspects and i like it when they leave it on a cliff hanger because it makes me more excited. i have always wanted to make my own animated cartoon hopefully by picking media this year i'll be able to learn many new skills to be able to make my own animated cartoon.

Another programme i like to watch is EastEnders, The popular soap opera focuses on family relationships and a sense of belonging in the community. This show is very interesting because it has different story lines and i like how they leave all the episode on a cliff hanger, this makes it really exciting. They use range of camera techniques through out the soap for example two shot, establishing shot, mid shot, close up and they also use many camera movements like pan and tilt, and most of the camera angles are straight on.

WEBSITES

Through out the summer i was on these websites to stay in contact with my friends and family, Instagram is basically where you upload photos and follow people and you can see there photos as well, on Facebook you can do variety of things like post what you are doing, send pictures, send videos and you can also find latest affairs. I love these websites because they keep me entertained and also keeps me informed in a way and the best thing i like is that these websites are world wide, so if anyone you know leaves aboard you can contact them through these websites. These two websites appeal to me because i use them nearly everyday to socialize with my friends and family.

In the summer Youtube has been a big part of my life as all music i listen to is from this website, Youtube has more than million music videos, Youtube has all kind of music and there are many people that have become internet sensation on Youtube by making videos.

NEWS STORIES

In the summer there where many news companies broadcasting about the GCSE exam results day which was on 20th August.
Over million people were entered for the GCSE exams around the country and many of them students got the result in august. I was lucky to be one of the students. Below i have linked two article about the GCSE results day

SKY NEWS: http://news.sky.com/story/1131819/gcse-results-record-fall-in-top-grades

These articles from the above institution indicate that students are passing but the number of A* have gone down and they also talk about how exam board have made the grade boundaries high. Many news institution have wrote about the same issue. This appeals to me because i done my GCSE exams this year and i think the exam boards are not being fair and i know many students that didn't achieve the target grades due to grade boundaries.
