Planning edit work shop and Evaluation (single)
Introduction to edit work shop
In this blog i will describe all the planning work and describe step by step what I did and I also show my shot list and storyboard so it gives better understanding. We were asked to create an video which had specific camera techniques.
Shooting list
The shot list shows all the camera shots and helps us know what to do on the day and we also plan which bits we are going to have music and we write the script if there is dialogue in the video.
storyboard These are storyboards which we done so gives us an rough idea what to do in the production stage and it also helps us remember what shots to record. There are to techniques we had to use, that was match on action and shot reverse shot. we used match on action for example in the storyboard we see the police drop the files but then we have another shot of it falling on the desk, we also used shot reverse shot when the police officer and criminal where talking together. |
We used various camera shots, we used an establishing shot because we wanted to show the scenery and setting this helps the audience understand where the video is taking place. Another shot we used was a long shot of the police officer as we wanted to show the person coming in and long shot helps us show the action, we also used mid show to show the upper body and we wanted to show the action as the police officer drops the file. Another camera shot we used is close up to show something in detail for example we used a close up to show the file dropping. We used over the shoulder shot to show what the reaction of the actor.
Mise en scene was a big part as we had to dress the actors right so it made sense for example in the video you would see the criminal we made the actor wear a hoodie to connote that his the criminal and we also done the establishing shot of the police station to make the audience know where its taking place. We used both artificial and natural lighting because we thought it may make it more realistic, we also turned a school office into a interview room as we thought that it was more realistic because there was a desk. we also used one prop which was the knife as we wanted to add humor to the video because usually in a police station the criminal does not carry any weapons.
Music
The music i have chosen to use is from a program called The Bill , The Bill is a police program so the theme song would be relevant to my video as the video i have done is about police interrogation.
Production logo, Titles and Credits
This is our production logo we have chosen we called it ABI studio, ABI is the first letter of our names for example A stands for Asad, B stands for Bleu and I stands for Ismail. Asad and Bleu are the people who i worked with for this project and we all decided on this production logo we specifically liked the color scheme we used and we thought we would be unique as we made an image of a boy sitting on a bird.
Titles
This is the title of our video we have chosen this theme color because that matches our logo and credits, we wanted dark colors because we wanted to keep it original and we liked the color scheme as a group and we also wanted it to match the logo and credits.
This is the credits, we choose this as in most video's this design is used and we wanted it to be traditional and we liked the color scheme and in the credits we have listed who done what and who it was created by.
Evaluation
This is an evaluation on what we
did for the edit workshop we were asked to create a video which had which didn’t
break the 180 degree rule and had to have specific camera technique for example
we had to have match on action and a shot reverse shot we also had to use the
rule of thirds.
In the first version of the film
of the video we broke the 180 degree rule twice, as we were editing we decided
to re-record specific scene’s as we wanted the video to be perfect. We used the
rule of thirds successfully as we tried are best to do so. In the video we have
used match of action as we see the police officer drop the files then we have
another shot of it falling on the table.
During the production we had
struggles when to record because we all had different lessons which meant we
had to record during media or after school, however we able to keep on track as
we finished the pre- production work early which meant we had more time and
during production we lacked space in the room so meant that the camera man didn’t
have enough space to get the best footage, so I would defiantly think about the
location space.
During the post- production we
faced many challenges for example we found out that some shots were not long
enough and some shot won't cleared to well, I also had problems with the sound
as every time I edited the video clip the sound would go which meant me losing
all the sound this meant that I had to start again because there was sound on
the original video’s. If I did edit again I would make sure that during
production we film longer as I learned that you can never record enough.
Overall the strengths were we good with time and we worked will in a team and we were able to see the faults and solve them, in our team we all gave opinion and we always respected each other thoughts. I think i would like working in this group as i think we worked fast and quick.
Overall as a team we have many
weaknesses for example we need to make sure next time that we record in a place
where there is more than enough space and I recommend that you see your work in
after you done it because we made a mistake not seeing are footage before
editing, we could have saved a lot of time.
Overall I think making the video
long adds more meaning to the video, I would also record in a room which is not
as crowded and there needs to be space for the camera man to record specific
shot. Overall as team we worked well and we had good communication skills,

An Analysis Of Wayne's World
Wayne's World
In this blog I will be analyzing Wayne's World in detail, Wayne's World is about a broadcast show which is called Wayne's world, the show is filmed in a basement one day they are offered a deal for the show would Wayne risk his business.Wayne's world is a aimed at range of audiences.
I would say Wayne's world target age is 15-35 because it appeals to people that age as they can relate more to the film because the characters are around the late twenties and in the we see adult content for example when Wayne sexually interacts with Cassandra, this is why I have aimed it at an higher age because I believe that parents would not want them seeing that.
I would say the main gender for Wayne's world is aimed at is both because I think in the film there are many things both gender can appeal to for example many females may relate to Cassandra and many males would relate to Wayne or Garth.
I would say that there are many things the audience would be interested in, however I think that there are two main ones for example they would be interested in seeing Vlogs because in the film we see Garth and Wayne talk to the audience in specific moments for example at 4min of the film we see Wayne talking to the audience. Another interest would be that the like music because in the film we see Wayne, Garth and the camera crew singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the car.
I think Wayne's world is aimed at people in England because in the film we see the Wayne, Garth and the camera crew singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the car, this denotes that the film is aimed at people in England because "Bohemian Rhapsody" is song by the queens who were known in England. They also speak English in the film, however this doesn't tell us that it's aimed at England as other countries can speak English for example America.
In the film we see range of ethnicity however I believe that its mostly whites because there most characters in the film are white and I think its targeted at white people due to not having range of ethnicity for example the main characters Wayne and Garth are white, the only person who isn't white is Cassandra.
The film lacked in camera quality due to the low budget of twenty million compared to other films they had a low budget which meant they had use low quality equipment, however this film was known worldwide so meant that they made a heavy profit, overall in box office it says the made just over a billion pound, this suggest that the film was very popular as worldwide it made 70 million pounds.
Throughout the film we see fuzziness because in 1992 the technology wasn't as advanced as these days and the low budget meant they couldn't get expensive equipment, however i think that the film quality was okay for the 90's as it was very expensive to buy camera's as they were very rear.
In the film we see an actor called Rob Lowe represent Benjamin, In the film Benjamin is the antagonist because he wants to steal Wayne's girlfriend Cassandra and he also wants Wayne's show this denotes that his antagonist as they want to create a problem and they want to steal. We also have a protagonist in the film as we see Wayne starts to fix things at the end which connotes that Wayne is a protagonist because the protagonist is the one that solves the problem.
Garth is an unusual character, he seems different to other but is really funny and his stupidity stands out for example at 0:20:00 we see Garth playing with the machine then scratching the car this makes the audience laugh at what he has done and then tries to escape quickly this connotes that Garth is a funny character and the director has done this to make the film more funny as it is comedy film.
Benjamin is a character who creates a problem and turns out to be the evil person in the film he is the antagonist as he doesn't want Wayne to succeed for example in the film at 01:05:00 we see Benjamin sack Wayne and then takes over the show so connotes that is the evil person.
Stock characters are basically the popular roles in the film, for example in most films there is a protagonist and antagonist and i'm very sure that most films made always have protagonist and antagonist for example in Wayne's world we Wayne is the protagonist because he tries his best to fix the problems and Benjamin is antagonist as he wants to ruin the peace.
Setting is the place is where the film is set, in Wayne's world there are various location for example in the film we see the basement were Wayne's world takes place, then we see the club were Wayne and the friends go to have party and also where he meets Cassandra, We also see Wayne's house and the studio where Benjamin sets the new Wayne's World show, The setting is important because the setting denotes the situation for example when they go to club we know they going to party because that is what a club connotes.
mise en scene is costume, lighting and location, These are key concepts because in most of the film mise en scene helps create the moment for example many films use different props for example in Wayne's World at 00:20:00 we see Wayne's friend Garth play with the machine this is a prop and adds more meaning as he accidentally scratches someones car, this makes the audience laugh, this relates back to the genre of the film which is comedy so its meant to make people laugh.
Equilibrium is when the protagonist has an ordinary life and no problems for example at 00.04:00 we see Wayne's having a normal life and doing his show without any problems and we don't see the antagonist yet.
Disruption is when the antagonist creates a problem for the protagonist, for example in Wayne's world we see Benjamin wants Wayne and Garth to sign contract for 5000 dollars each, however Wayne and Garth don't read the contract, this creates a problem for Wayne has he may have cost his show.
Repair is when the protagonist solves the problem, for example in Wayne's World when Wayne asks Cassandra to come with him and he will help her get a record with MR Big and then Cassandra goes with him and Wayne plans to broadcast a show on Mr Big limo TV so that he comes to the basement to hear Cassandra singing and gives her a record deal.
New Equilibrium is when everything's back to normal, for example at the end of film we see Wayne and Cassandra live a happy life and the antagonist Benjamin cannot affect them any more.
Overall Wayne's World is good film and is a film filled with humor and for the time it was recorded the film quality was okay and i believe that this film was set out perfect and the story line was very interesting and i believe that it catches intention.
